From Frustration to Innovation
Gridnexshiftmind was born from a simple frustration. Two civil engineers, Takeshi Yoshida and Emi Watanabe, watched their own gardens struggle during Tokyo's sweltering summers. The irrigation systems available were either crude (flood the whole area) or prohibitively expensive. In 2014, they decided to engineer a solution themselves.
The first installation was on a residential property in Setagaya — a 150 m² garden with mixed planting and uneven slope. Within weeks, water consumption dropped by 48%, and the garden thrived. Word spread rapidly through local gardening circles and property associations. By 2018, Gridnexshiftmind had deployed systems across the Kanto region. Today, with a team of 22 engineers, landscape designers, and installation specialists, we serve clients from Hokkaido to Okinawa.
Water Efficiency Meets Garden Beauty
We believe that the most beautiful gardens are also the most sustainable ones. Our mission is to eliminate water waste without compromising aesthetic vision. Every irrigation system we design is customized to the specific microclimate, soil composition, and plant variety of its site.
We begin with a thorough on-site survey — measuring slope, analyzing soil composition, mapping microclimates, and understanding your garden's seasonal character. Then our designers collaborate with you to create a system that works invisibly. Visitors to your garden should notice the thriving plants, not the pipes. That is the art of smart irrigation: technology so well-integrated that it disappears.
Four Principles That Guide Every Project
Precision Engineering
No two gardens are alike. We measure, analyze, and customize every installation. Generic solutions waste water and disappoint clients. We refuse both.
Horticultural Integrity
Irrigation technology must serve plants, not the reverse. We employ certified horticulturists on every design team to ensure system schedules match plant physiology.
Transparent Accountability
Our water-saving guarantee is written into every contract. If your system doesn't reduce consumption by 30% in year one, we re-engineer it free of charge.
Sustainable Practice
We design for longevity, not replacement cycles. Our systems are built to last 15+ years, use minimal energy, and degrade gracefully if ever retired.
